Agnes RF Microneedling Treatments

When home skin products are no longer proving effective, but you aren’t ready for surgery, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation, such as microneedling, could be for you.

Board-certified aesthetic physician Dr. Anayo Umerah is happy to perform microneedling (collagen induction therapy) at her offices in Warner Robins and Macon, GA. Microneedling uses many fine needles to effectively and safely make micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-injuries prompt the natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that contribute to the health and appearance of your complexion. Often combined with other treatments, such as vitamin serums or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling may help reduce scars, stretch marks, and pores. Schedule a consultation at Ageless Aesthetics to learn more about the benefits of microneedling and ways to customize the treatment to meet your needs and goals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At Ageless Aesthetics, we recommend microneedling for our patients who are interested in the following benefits:

  • Low-risk, minimally-invasive procedure
  • Minimization of scarring, hyperpigmentation, or stretch marks
  • Improved texture and tone of skin
  • Reduced appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and signs of aging

You could be a candidate for microneedling if you experience light to moderate complexion problems, like a decrease in elasticity or rough skin texture. Microneedling treatments can also reduce the look of pores, scars, and stretch marks. You must be willing to wait before seeing benefits from your microneedling procedure since the elastin and collagen require some time to affect the complexion; however, you will have results that look natural and gain healthier and stronger skin.

Microneedling is done in a private treatment room at either our Warner Robins or Macon, GA office in about 30 – 60 minutes with local anesthesia or numbing cream if desired; however, patients generally feel mild to virtually no discomfort. The areas of skin being addressed will be cleaned before the microneedling handpiece is evenly passed over. Once the microneedling is done, a topical treatment, like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum, can be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in along with UV protection since the treated skin will be more sensitive after the procedure. You might experience some redness and swelling for a day or so; however, this should resolve quickly on its own. It can take around 1 – 2 months as the elastin and collagen supply increases before you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your skin. Typically, most patients get around 4 – 6 follow-up sessions performed every 4 – 6 weeks for optimal results and long-term skin health.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Umerah will analyze your skin and then develop your personalized plan. From there, she will explain your treatment costs and the procedure. Ageless Aesthetics often has discounts on skin treatment packages, so ask about current deals during your consultation.

Collagen induction therapy or microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment to tighten and rejuvenate your skin. A natural fibrous protein, collagen helps your skin stay supple, smooth, and firm. Eventually, your natural stores of collagen are depleted, and your skin gets less elastic and thin. Microneedling creates tiny skin wounds. These micro-injuries force your skin to generate new skin cell growth and increase collagen production. Once healed, your skin looks healthier, firmer, and brighter.

In the microneedling process, channels are created that make it easier for treatments to reach the deeper layers. This is why microneedling is commonly performed with other treatments, like vitamin-rich serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Microneedling with PRP is more commonly known as a Vampire Facial®. In your initial consultation, Dr. Umerah will talk about which treatments may be performed along with microneedling and which best fit your skin goals.

Typically, patients need 3 – 6 treatments to get their best results. However, how many sessions you require will vary based on the condition of your skin and your goals. Microneedling may be safely done every 4 – 6 weeks. During your initial consultation, Dr. Umerah will be able to estimate how many treatments you might want after assessing your skin and listening to your goals. When your skin goals are reached, Dr. Umerah suggests scheduling maintenance treatments two times a year.

On the whole, microneedling is appropriate for all skin tones and types. Since the skin injuries created are so small, there are rarely side effects after the treatment. Microneedling can be applied to most skin areas, including the face, arms, neck, chest, thighs, and calves. Microneedling isn’t recommended if you have used Accutane in the last few months, as well as if you have an open wound, herpes simplex, or active skin infection. Additionally, you may not be a candidate for microneedling if you’re pregnant, nursing, or getting radiation therapy.
